Hey! It's a Carnival Cowboy!

Martin's first job out of college didn't wait too long. A month after graduation he boarded Carnival Cruise Line's Carnival Valor, as a keyboardist and singer. Him and his Duo Partner, Kamerann Burney, had a "romping and stomping good time" performing for countless people over three and a half months touring the Mexican coast. Between Cozumel, Costa Maya (Mahahual), and Progresso, Martin made tons of friends from all over the country and the world, while polishing off another tool in his toolkit, musical performance. Debuting a new song, "Momma's Boy, Daddy's Man" and having a solo, 2-hour performance highlighted some of the spectacular moments and Martin can't wait to take all he learned from this role into the next.

The Mystery of Edwin Droooooood!

Martin finished out his college career with a bang! Last minute, Martin was asked to swing for Theatre TCU's Production of The Mystery of Edwin Drood. Coming in two weeks into the process, Martin played catch up and was used as a rehearsal swing numerous times over the process. During the production, Martin helped out backstage as well with numerous special effects and even had the opportunity of going through a put-in rehearsal. Martin is excited to swing again sometime, but until then, on to the next gig!

NYC Showcase and 54 Below

Martin reprised his performance with the lovely Sarah Youngblood first for a panel of 4 talent agents and then for an audience that included 30 or so industry professionals, along with friends and family alike! After a wonderful week of masterclasses and performances, the Class of 2023 took to the 54 Below Stage, where he sang, Need You Now by Lady A, with the tremendously talented Kamerann Burney. Martin received interest from various talent agencies and casting directors, and is more excited than ever to enter the industry after graduation!

Dallas Local Showcase

This one-of-a-kind class, featuring the Musical Theatre and Acting seniors of Theatre TCU debut their Showcase at TCU's Buschman Theatre in Fort Worth, TX, on March 7 at 7:00 p.m. Martin Vershel performed with the wonderful Sarah Youngblood a touching yet hilarious monologue from the movie, How Do You Know, an inspiring scene from the hit TV Show, The Boys and a mesmerizing dance in the style of the movie musical, La la Land. Martin enjoyed performing with the rest of TCU's Class of 2023 so much that he couldn't wait to do it again two weeks later.

Choreographer's Stage Cast

Kaleidoscope: Choreographer's Stage

As part of the Theatre TCU Spring semester season, Martin had the opportunity to showcase a five-minute piece of original choreography. Over just one week of rehearsal, Martin taught 9 dancers a swing-inspired partnering piece he named, "Party at Pop's". Featuring a collection of some of Louis Armstrong's greatest hits, "Party at Pop's" was a huge success, along with the rest of the Choreographer's Stage. As an added bonus, Martin was able to dance in his own piece, culminating his TCU Career with one last Mainstage Performance.

National Anthem at TCU Basketball Game

Martin was asked to sing the National Anthem on November 30, 2022, as the TCU Horned Frogs men's basketball team took on the Providence College Friars. As Martin sang the final "home of the brave", there was an uproarious applause and, as he walked off the court and back to the stands, many stopped him to shake his hand. One said, "Oh my god, that was the best time I've heard the national anthem sung here. You made me proud to be an American." God bless the USA and Go Frogs!

"I'm nuts about you, Charity!": Martin puts on many hats for Theatre TCU's production of Andrew Lippa's Sweet Charity

From September 27 - October 2, Martin acted, danced, and sung in Theatre TCU's production of Sweet Charity. Along with being an Ensemble Dancer in all of the show's numbers, including the classic Frug Dance, Martin dazzled in various other roles in the play. He brought to life the Dirty Old Man, "Handsy" Marvin, and Barney on stage. Between the hilarious one-liners to incredible lifts, Martin brought out the best in the characters Andrew Lippa put on paper.
